I have seen far too much hatred lately

Why is there so much hate?

People generally have high standards for themselves. So, when they don't meet their expectations, they don't lower their standards. They instead change how they see themselves so that where they are lacking isn't so apparent to themselves.

This may work for awhile, but eventually what ends up happening is that we find our faults in others. Our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that we don't like in ourselves we can suddently easily see in others. And we find fault with those people.

Why do we do this? It's simple, really. We can't accept these things about ourselves, and therefore can't accept the people with the same qualities reminding us that we fall short of the perfection we seek. So we get angry at them, and then somehow assume the anger is coming from them directed as us. Crazy, isn't it? It's called PROJECTION, people.

Main Entry: pro·ject
Function: verb
- to attribute (one's own ideas, feelings, or characteristics) to other people or to objects

"Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you."
