Soccer and Sin

My eldest DS is really into sports. In fact, he's been watching the World Cup Soccer games with quite a bit of interest.

Imagine my surprise when I am perusing one of my favorite online Christian sites, and I find out that the "German government arranges for and profits from huge brothels."

Say what?

And I quote: "Hundreds of thousands of people have descended on Germany for the World Cup soccer tournament and aside from the usual souvenirs, fans can also buy sex -- with the blessing of the government.

The Germans have brought in thousand of prostitutes for the fans and put them in brothels near the stadium. U.S. Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice said she is appalled and vows to do something about it.

"The United States is leading a new abolitionist movement to end the sordid trade in human beings," she said.

Doug Sylva, a senior fellow with The Catholic Family and Human Rights Institute, told Family News in Focus that in the interest of making sex "safe," countries are attempting to declare certain behaviors "morality free," even though the consequences can't be nullified.

He added that Germany is profiting off the sex business through taxes.

They're doing everything a pimp does." he said. "For them to have this kind of mentality and ideology means they have to turn the other way to the actual sex slavery that these women are placed under."

He who conceals his sins does not prosper, but whoever confesses and renounces them finds mercy. Proverbs 28:13

For the LORD watches over the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will perish. Psalms 1:6

For from within, out of men's hearts, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, greed, malice, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, arrogance and folly. All these evils come from inside and make a man 'unclean.' Mark 7:21-23
